A delightful and easy-to-make Amish apple fritter bread that combines the flavors of cinnamon, apples, and a sweet glaze.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and eggs.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Fold in the diced apples and vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the brown sugar mixture.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool before drizzling with the glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
