Graveyard Shepherd’s Pie is a spooky twist on the classic comfort food, perfect for Halloween celebrations. This dish features a savory meat filling topped with creamy mashed potatoes, decorated to resemble a graveyard.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Black olives, for decoration
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Stir in the carrots, peas, beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Top with mashed potatoes, smoothing them out to cover the meat.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Decorate with black olives to create gravestones and garnish with parsley before serving.
