- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden.
- Let cool on the cookie sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
