  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine shredded coconut, sugar, flour, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg whites and vanilla extract until frothy.
  4. Pour the egg mixture into the coconut mixture and stir until well combined.
  5. Using a cookie scoop or your hands, form small mounds of the mixture and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  7. If using chocolate chips, melt them and drizzle over the cooled macaroons.
  8. Allow to cool completely before serving.
