Caramelized Onion Sage Puff Pastry Twists are a delicious and elegant appetizer made with flaky puff pastry, sweet caramelized onions, and aromatic sage.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the sliced onions.
  3. Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chopped sage and season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into strips.
  6. Place a spoonful of the caramelized onion mixture on one end of each strip.
  7. Fold the pastry over the filling and twist the strips to create a spiral shape.
  8. Place the twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
